Auromira exports is the only artisans group in Pondicherry, South India, dedicated to promoting a craft that takes us back to a simple and natural way of living.
Since the beginning of Auromira Export in 2004, the blend of traditional Indian weaving techniques and the Western influence of the German Bauhaus movement, inspired us to create a new sustainable approach to the whole issue of ecology in the textile field, touching three main areas:

Ecological production: the entire process of extraction and production of fibers, the use of natural dyes and fabrics, furnishings and fashions in environmentally sound conditions.

Human ecology: the effects of textiles on the body as the nearest environment.

Disposal ecology: recycling of textiles and wastes and the responsible use of natural and energy resources such as water waste.

Our Artisans

There are more than 45 artisans, mostly women, from the surrounding villages working in our project.

We and our producers groups start working at 9.30am to 05.30pm then we have a tea break of 10 to 15 min and then at 01.00pm to 1.45pm we have the launch break then at 4pm we have tea break again 10 to 15min. then we close at 5.30pm.

We have Sunday compulsory holiday for each producers , artisans and the management and we are giving the 15days paid holidays but a the national level only 12 days. We are giving 30 days bonus for The Tamil and Indian festival of Deepavali and Tamil traditional festival of "Pongal". Total 30 days bonus we are providing to our artisans.

Overtime method is as below : all the over time hours calculated as one and half wages and if any emergency case work on Sunday we provide free Food and one and half wages on the holidays working Every Saturday afternoon from 3 to 4.30pm we are giving free study class for our artisans in the way of writing and reading of local language "Tamil". And whoever knows how to read and write Tamil we are giving them the study class of English reading and writing with the professional teachers.

We ensures that representatives of employees are not subject to discrimination in the workplace.

Our producers ensures that women are always paid for their contribution to the production process, and when women do the same work as men they are paid at the same rates as men. We ensure that in production situations where women's work is valued less highly than men's work, women's work is re-valued to equalize pay rates and women are allowed to undertake work according to their capacities.
